Professional Staff
Tom Wright, Pool Manager
Tom Wright joins Heritage for his third year as manager of the pool staff and aquatic programs and will also assist with the swim team. However, he is no stranger to the Colonial League as he was the former head coach of the Wedgewood Swim and Tennis Club for four summers. During the school year Tom is a guidance counselor and head coach in the public schools. Tom swam competitively in college for the University of New Hampshire and Salem State College.
Jerry Moss, Head Swimming and Water Polo Coach
Jerry Moss returns for his 30th year of leading Heritage's competitive swimming programs. During the winter months, Jerry also coaches the perennially successful Concord Carlisle High School Swim teams. Jerry is a two time Boston Globe All-Scholastic Coach of the Year. In 2006 Jerry was inducted into the Eastern Massachusetts Coaches Hall of Fame. He also coaches for the New England Barracudas. A graduate of Northeastern University, Jerry played water polo and baseball while also swimming at the collegiate level.
Tracey Bird, Head Diving Coach
Tracey Bird returns for her 11th year as Head Diving Coach. In her first eight years, Tracey has coached the Heritage diving team to the Colonial League Diving Championship every year! Tracey is also the diving coach at CCHS where she has coached five state champions and several Boston Globe All-Scholastics. She was the Boston Globe All-Scholastic Coach of the Year in 2006. Before her coaching career, Tracey was an All-American diver at Stanford University.
Swimming Lessons
Heritage offers swim lessons for all levels for children. Heritage follows the American Red Cross certification for different swim levels from beginner through to advance. Classes are offered Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday beginning at 10:00 in the morning and finishing at 1:00pm. Lessons run on half hour intervals. Sign up for swim lessons is Sunday, June 6th at Heritage from 1:00pm-3:00pm.
Tracey Bird coaches dive lessons for all levels from beginner to competitive diving. Dive lessons are given on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10:00am - 1:00pm. Please attend sign up day to sign up for your appropriate level.
Swim team is open to all Heritage children up to 17 years of age. We compete in the Colonial League and have meets on Saturday mornings. Swimmers compete in the following age divisions: 6 and under, 8 and under, 10 and under, 12 and under, 14 and under, and 17 and under. All swimmers are encouraged to attend morning practices Monday through Friday once school is out. The practice times are as follows:
June 14th - until school is out
Monday-Friday
5:00-6:00 10 y.o. and younger
6:00-7:00 12 y.o. and older
Beginning June 23rd until the rest of the season
Monday-Friday
7:45-8:45 12 y.o. and older
9:00-10:00 10 y.o. and younger
How can I help with the Swim and Dive Team?
All events in the league are run by volunteers. At every home meet we must supply at least 18 volunteers and away meets require at least 12 volunteers. We also need volunteers for the all-star meet, the Colonial Classic meet, Championships and other special events. We ask that all parents of swimmers and divers volunteer for at least two slots if you have one child participating. Sign up sheets will be available on June 5th and will be posted at the club. Working a meet is fun, makes the time go by faster, and provides a great opportunity to get to know the other parents. There are many different types of volunteers needed so there are jobs for all interests.
An exceptional opportunity to help is to become a stroke and turn official. A Stroke and Turn Clinic is held at date tbd where you are taught how to officiate a meet.
Heritage's diving team competes in Colonial League. Divers will have opportunities to dive in Monday and Saturday meets. Divers compete in the following age groups: 10 and under, 12 and under, 14 and under and 17 and under. See below for Dive Team practice times.
