The Heritage Pool & Racquet Club offers a rewarding tennis program for players of all ages and all playing levels. We offer competitive and social tennis, including a range of junior tennis programs. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or experienced tennis player, Heritage has a spot on the court for you.

We are very pleased to have Shawn Powers Transition to Tennis Director in 2013! Shawn is the Head Coach for the Boy's Tennis Team at Wayland High School. Shawn played for Concord-Carlisle High School as well as tournaments as a junior and an adult.

 Junior Clinics


Important
: Sign-Ups for ALL of our programs will take place at the Open House, Sunday, June 2 from 1:00-3:00PM. Due to a high number of participants, it is imperative to sign-up for the clinics at this event. 

Heritage's Junior Tennis Clinics are designed especially for boys and girls ages 4-15. Our goal is to enhance the juniors' tennis skills and love for the game in a spirited and positive learning environment. Junior Clinics start Tuesday, June 25.

Junior Teams

 

The Boys and Girls Tennis Teams play in the Sudbury Valley Junior Tennis League at the A & B team levels. Team members must be between 10 and 16 years old.  

B-Team:
This team is open to any Heritage junior who is able to play points. B-Team members should be able to demonstrate the consistent ability to put serves in play. All kids on the team are required to attend the morning clinics.


B-Team Practices: Tuesday and Thursday from 3:45-5:00 beginning Tuesday, June 25.


B-Team Matches: Starting Friday, June 28. Matches are played on Fridays throughout the season. All B-Team matches are all away matches.


A-Team:

The Club's A-Team plays in the Sudbury Valley Junior Tennis League. A-Team is for the top juniors at the club. Practices are comprised of intense drilling and conditioning as well as match play strategy. The challenge ladder determines who plays the singles spots. Anyone who has previously played on the A-Team is invited back to join the team. New players who would like to tryout for the team can do so by attending the Preseason Practices. 


A-Team Preseason Practices: June 11 & June 13 and June 18 & 20: Girls from 4:00-5:00PM and Boys from 5:00-6:00PM. 


A-Team Regular Season Practices: Monday, Wednesday & Friday beginning Friday, June 21, Girls from 2:00-3:15PM and Boys from 3:15-4:30PM. 


A-Team Matches: Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Tuesday, June 25 from 1:00-3:30PM.

Women's Clinics

Women's clinics are available for all levels of play. These clinics are designed to help players with their stroke development and doubles strategy. These clinics are a great way to further your doubles development.


Beginning/Intermediate Tuesday June 25 - August 5

There are many opportunities to play during the week. In addition to these traditional drill and match play clinics, there are allotted group drop-in times. Players from the Intermediate/Advanced clinic will have two courts reserved from 10:30–11:30 AM on Tuesday mornings and the Beginner/Intermediate players will have the courts from 10:30-11:30 AM on Thursday.

Open Mixed Adult Clinics

Come one and come all! The adult evening clinic program is design for all levels of play. These clinics are designed to help players with their stroke development and doubles strategy. These clinics are a great way to further your doubles development.

Sunday Morning Mixed Doubles

Drop by the Heritage courts every Sunday morning (weather permitting) from May through September at 9:00 AM for mixed doubles in a fun round robin format. The level of play is intermediate. A $1 fee is charged for balls.

Friday Night Doubles Drop-In Clinics

The mixed doubles clinics will continue this summer. The clinic is a “drop-in” on Fridays from 6:30 PM–8:00 PM, starting June 28 and ending August 9. The first forty-five minutes of the session is geared toward a specific doubles strategy. During the last half of the night, players are coached during doubles play.

Private Tennis Instruction

Once the tennis season begins, private and semi-private lessons are available to Heritage players of all ages and abilities. Private lessons are an excellent way to focus on any specific area in your game, and are very helpful in eliminating technical problems. Heritage Tennis 2013 Events



Tennis Exhibition Match & Cookout: Sunday, June 23 from 4:00-7. We will provide the hamburgers and hotdogs; you just need to bring a side dish to share. The evening will feature an excellent tennis exhibition match with members of the tennis staff. 

Trip to the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, RI: Tuesday, July 9: Once again, this year participants in our junior tennis program (ages 9 and up please) will have the opportunity to visit the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, RI. The trip includes a question & answer session with the pros, a guided tour of the Hall of Fame Museum and tickets to the Campbell’s Tennis Hall of Fame matches that day.


Boston Pro Tennis League: On Thursday, July 11, Heritage will host an evening of the Boston Pro Tennis League.  The night features former ATP players in singles and doubles. Matches will begin shortly after 6:00PM. 


Parent Child Tournament: Sunday, July 21:
Division I: Twelve and Under from 9:30AM until 11:30AM. 

Division II: Thirteen and Over from 12:30PM until 3:00PM.



Women’s Member/Member Tournament:

Evening: Thursday, July 18: Matches begin at 6:00PM. 

Morning: Thursday, August 1: Matches begin at 9:00AM.


Men’s Member/Member Tournament: Thursday, July 25: Matches begin at 6:00PM. 


Adult Mixer Night: Thursday, August 1 at 6:00PM - Music, food and fun!

Tennis Rules

General Tennis Rules

Members and guests shall conduct themselves in the spirit of good sportsmanship at all times and respect the rights of others using the tennis facilities.

Flat-soled tennis shoes are required at all times. Bare feet, “flip-flops” and sandals are prohibited. Black-soled athletic shoes are also prohibited.

Tennis courts shall be used for no other purpose other than tennis.

Tennis clinics, private instruction, tournaments, league play, and special programs have priority use of the courts.

Courts are available for use by members on a first come first serve basis. 

When other members are waiting for a court limit singles play to 60 minutes and doubles play to 90 minutes.

Court Courtesies

Do not pass through a court when in use, unless invited to do so.

Return errant balls promptly, but not while a point is in progress.

Do not distract other players with loud talk or noises.

Close gates when entering and leaving courts.

Please limit use of electronic communication devices.
